Val Duncan sends in a few words from her mobile phone, laboriously keyed in and dictated as well for a second time, about her Yoga sessions:
Allendale Yoga Group meets every Friday morning at 10 -11.30 in the well-appointed purpose-built Allendale Sports Club Pavilion, next to the Old Catton Dairy site. Beginners are welcome and new members will always be warmly received.
In 2017 we celebrated our 10th anniversary with a ‘Summer of Love’ fancy dress party at the Hemmel Café in Allenheads, which is also our annual go-to venue for Christmas lunch. We are now into our twelfth year and counting with around 16 current members.
The group operates on a pay-as-you-go basis at a cost of £5 per session during school term times. So no need to book and pay in advance or worry about missed sessions.
Like the Allen Valley Striders our core values are fun, friendship and fitness. Our mantra is: breathe, stretch, relax and be mindful. After rolling up our mats we roll along to the Allendale Tea Rooms for an hour to discuss life, the universe and everything to do with the local community, over a leisurely well earned cuppa.
People come from as far afield as Nenthead and Cowshill, and after enjoying a chat, make Friday their day to do their grocery shopping at the Co-op, visit the post office, Dale Salon or Natural Beauty.
This summer we are holding a Garden Party on the 21st of June in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance. The venue is the Old Studio behind Arnison House, home to group member Jenny Farley. Last year’s summer garden party shown in the photograph below was very well supported. According to the weather forecast we’re set for another sunny June so do come along and enjoy the cakes and bakes as well as the books, plants, tombola and fabulous raffle prizes. Look out for details on facebook’s Allendale area notices page nearer the event date.

Thanks so much Val, for a delightful diary entry! Best wishes for the Garden Party and the upcoming sessions.
